Subject Overview:

This subject introduces students to the language and methods for critically describing works of art, using examples from the past and present.
Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • comprehend the descriptive and theoretical vocabulary used in contemporary art criticism and art historical studies; and
  • recognise methods and objectives of argument in art criticism and art history.
Assessment:

Assessment is based on written assignments with a total of 2000 words, or equivalent in part. Details will be provided in the first week of the semester (100%)
