Subject Overview: |
Physiotherapists continually upgrade their professional knowledge and skills to ensure that their contribution to the health care of patients is of the highest standard and excellence in practice is maintained. Students are required to submit a learning portfolio with evidence of having completed or attended professional development courses, workshops, hospital or clinical in-services, conferences, presentations, publications and/or research. Bonus points will be awarded for professional development activities within the specialist stream. |

Learning Outcomes: |
The aim of this subject is to recognise the prior/extra learning activities which build a basis for the advanced learning which is undertaken in the Postgraduate Certificate in Physiotherapy. Continuing professional development is seen as an important component of ongoing professional learning. This subject acknowledges the students’ commitment to life long learning. |
Assessment: |
Portfolio and summary record of professional development activities (100%). A summary record of all professional development activities must be submitted along with copies of record of attendance or participation. Activities in the student's specialist stream will be awarded bonus points, as will courses accredited by the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Activities over the last 5 years may be included in the portfolio. Items outside this timeframe, up to 10 years, may be considered in special circumstances. |
