Subject Overview:

Students enrolled in this subject will be required to produce an original piece of work of approximately 12,000 words length on a topic in professional ethics. Topics may include conceptual investigations into the foundations of professional ethics, as well as discussions of particular ethically problematic issues. Individual thesis topics will be the result of negotiation between students and teaching staff. Students will be required to demonstrate the capacity to identify and critically engage with the relevant literature and to produce a coherent and well-argued piece reflecting this engagement.
Learning Outcomes:

Students who successfully complete this subject will:

  • have an in-depth knowledge of the academic literature relating to the subject of their thesis.
  • have developed familiarity with and competence in theoretical philosophical ethics.
  • have displayed the ability to understand and integrate relevant empirical research.
Assessment:

A thesis of 12 000 words (due at the end of the second semester of study after enrolment).
