Subject Overview: |
In this subject, students will learn to develop a sequenced and comprehensive approach to piano teaching that is informed by both a thorough understanding of pedagogical principles as well as a flexibility that can meet the needs of individual piano students. Students will be made aware of important areas of the piano literature and other teaching materials appropriate to different levels in the acquisition of pianistic skills and musical understanding.

Assessment: |
Class teaching demonstrations, held from weeks 5 - 12 (50%); end-of-semester written assignment of 1000 words on the principles of piano pedagogy (50%). 100% attendance is expected. A minimum of 80% attendance is required to pass the subject. |
