Subject Overview: |
This subject explores two key factors that often lead to marginalization in peace processes: gender and generation. Focusing on key questions in peace studies, we will explore critical research methods for better including and accounting for young people and women in studies of politics, peace, and conflict. Students will engage in activity-based learning and critical analysis of literature and multimedia resources. The instructor will provide real-life examples from her fieldwork with youth peace building initiatives in Australia, Northern Ireland, Laos, the US, and Colombia and from the fieldwork she has conducted in India and Liberia examining women’s participation in peacekeeping. |
