Undertaking a research project is conditional upon obtaining approval from a supervisor with consideration to appropriate subjects undertaken in their Masters

Students who have completed the below subjects are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

The subject allows students to conduct an original research project, under supervision to be approved by a subject Coordinator. The work will be equivalent to lecture and practical based subjects worth 50 points. The content and extent of the project will be determined by a Coordinator, in collaboration with the student and the supervisor.

The project represents a capstone subject and would ordinarily include a review of a body of relevant literature, together with a critical evaluation of research or experimental protocols, and the development of research methods, implementation of a mathematical model, completion of an original experiment, or a thorough exploration of a research problem or issue. Projects would ordinarily include a component of original research well beyond a review or critique. Projects would involve regular 1-hour discussion groups where students report on progress, major problems and plans.

To undertake a directed research project.

• Project Proposal (10%) Due week 5, 1,500 words, (A pass in the project proposal is a hurdle requirement);
• Oral Presentation (15%) Due week 12, 15 minutes Final Report (75%)
• Due end of SWOTVAC period, 10,000 words.
