Italian language subjects are organised in a progressive sequence (of units) from Italian 1 through to Italian 6 and beyond. Entry and exit points are determined by the student’s background in the language, placement testing if required, prerequisites, or at the discretion of the Italian Program. Students normally progress through the subjects in consecutive order. Mid-year entry is also possible into subjects with even numbers, subject to appropriate prior experience and approval from the head of the Italian program. Accelerated progression is possible on advice from the Italian Program. |

Structure & Available Subjects: |
Duration: the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Italian) must be taken part-time over at least two years (usually three years) and will not be available to international students in 2014. All students undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Italian must complete the equivalent of a major in Italian through 100 points of study (8 x 12.5 point subjects, unless indicated otherwise) Italian language subjects are organised in a progressive sequence (of units) from Italian 1 through to Italian 6 and beyond. Students may enter at any point, subject to prerequisites and/or placement testing and normally progress through the sequence in consecutive order. Accelerated progression is possible with the permission of the program convenor. Mid year entry is also possible inot subjects with even numbers, subject to appropriate prior experience and approval from the convenor. There are three standard entry points:
Italian 1 Entry Point
Italian 5 Entry Point
Total 100 points
Please note: students will have their appropriate entry point determined by the Italian Program, based on evidence of prior learning and/or results of a placement test as required.
