Subject Overview:

Course content includes:
• The data collection process
• Descriptive Statistics
• Inferential Statistics
• Descriptive and correlational research
• Qualitative research and evaluation

Methods
• Writing a research manuscript

Objectives:

By the end of this subject students should be able to:
• Articulate the process of data collection in practice-based research
• Understand the use of statistical analysis in practice-based research
• Conduct descriptive and correlational data analysis using SPSS
• Describe qualitative research and evaluation methods
• Write a research manuscript

Assessment:
  • 25% weekly quizzes on lecture content (4 multiple choice questions per week for 5 weeks and 5 multiple choice questions in the last week = 25 questions in all)
  • 25% SPSS assignment of no more than 1,000 words in length due Week 6 of the subject
  • 50% major assignment (research proposal) of 3,000 words in length due Week 6 of the subject
