This course is particularly likely to appeal to professionals who already have a knowledge and interest in the voice e.g. actors, drama teachers, community theatre artists, and trained singers.

Subject Overview:

This subject will provide students with the opportunity to study a variety of texts which follow a traditional form of dramatic action, dialogic interaction and narrative logic.

Objectives:

On completing this subject students will:
• have learned and applied various approaches to working with text from the initial read, through to rehearsal/practice and performance;
• have analysed the relationship between voice, speech and text;
• have an understanding of the actor’s/speaker’s vocal needs within the context of the rehearsal and performance process.

Assessment:



Task 1: Practical task and presentation within the intensive workshop (Equivalent of 2,000 words): 40%
Task 2: Evaluation of applied work in an educational and community setting (2,400 words): 60%
