Professional Project (Musicology)

This subject involves completing

• preparation of an abstract suitable for submission to a musicological conference, such as the Musicological Society of Australia national or chapter conferences; attendance at half a day of the conference, and the preparation of a written report on a conference session;
• 20 hours supervised research assistance for an archive, library, institution or scholar.

On completion of this subjects students will gain

• skills to be able to plan and construct a conference paper
• ability and self-confidence to present a lucid oral presentation
• ability to assess scholarly presentations
• ability to carry out a prescribed research task
• knowledge of what is required to submit work to a scholarly publication.

One conference abstract (due in during the semester, of approx 150 words) (5%);
One 1000 word written conference report, due end of semester (20%);
One book review of 1500 words, due week 10 (35%);
PLUS
One 1500 word report on what was achieved on the research project, due end of the semester (40%).

This subject is not available as a breadth subject.

On completion of this subject students will have developed:
