Prerequisites:

Admission to the postgraduate diploma or fourth-year honours in German.

Please note this thesis subject is currently being phased out and is only available to students who commenced their Honours/PD-Arts program prior to 2013. Students wishing to enrol in Honours/PD-Arts from 2013 will need to enrol in a 50 point thesis subject as per the course requirements for BH-Arts & PD-Arts.

Subject Overview:

Research on a selected topic to be approved by the Head of the German section, in consultation with the thesis supervisor.
Objectives:
  • have understood and applied the relevant research methods in their chosen field of Germanic studies.
  • have achieved the level of linguistic and methodical competency required for postgraduate studies in German.
  • have demonstrated their ability to do guided research at Honours level.
Assessment:

A thesis of 10 000 words written in German or 12 000 words in English 100% (due in the second semester of enrolment).
