This subject is not offered in 2013.

Contact as above plus regular daily practice in consultation with individual practical teacher. Weekly time commitment would normally require not less than 15 hours.

Normally H2A in MUSI30216 Music Performance 6, MUSI30008 Performance Study 6 or successful audition of 25 minutes.

Students will develop a thorough technical background to cope with all stylistic demands; establish a sizeable concert repertory covering all styles. The subject includes advanced study of the established concerto repertory and all related aspects of music performance.
The study should include a concerto or a major ensemble work comprising at least three players. Vocal students may prepare excerpts, each of at least ten-minutes duration, from opera or oratorio or a major ensemble work for voice and at least three additional players.

On completion of the subject, students should be able to:

• perform the soloist part with assured musical fluency
• maintain convincing musical interaction with supporting players
• sustain a musically convincing view of the soloist’s contribution
• communicate an individual sense of artistry through the soloist’s role.

An end-of-semester concerto performance or other approved major ensemble work, or program of excerpts of vocal repertoire, of 20 minutes duration (100%).
In order to pass the subject, students must attend and actively participate as a performer in concert class, performance class, and instrument/vocal classes as required by the convenor of their performance area.

This subject is not available as a breadth subject.

Students who have studied this subject will develop and enhance:

• skills in communication and cooperative artistic interchange.
