Subject Overview:

This subject provides an overview of design, implementation and evaluation considerations for developers of major ehealth solutions and applications, including electronic health records (EHR), telehealth, clinical decision support systems (CDSS), paperless systems and consumer health.

Objectives:

On successful completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • Prepare a technical review of current solutions in ehealth
  • Recognise opportunities for improvement through the development of ehealth solutions
  • Design an ehealth solution based on critical evaluation of tools and methods
  • Make a case for the feasibility, innovation, impact and value of the envisaged solution
Assessment:
  • (1500 word report on technical review of a specific category of current eHealth solutions, due week 6 (30%). Addresses ILO 1, 2
  • 2000 word report on eHealth Solution Design Project including class presentation, due in week 10 (50%). Addresses ILO 2, 3
  • 1000 word written evaluation of other student's eHealth Solutions, due in week 12 (20%). Addresses ILO 3,4

To pass the subject, students must obtain at least 50% in each of these 3 components.
