Subject Overview: |
This subject is designed to give students a basic framework of knowledge about events and issues that have shaped international affairs in the last 60 years. The subject will acquaint students with the historical roots of key problems. Events and developments covered might include the Cold War, wars in the Middle East and the rise of the Third World, along with issues such as human rights, environmental problems, or the rise of transnational corporations. |

Assessment: |
A 2500-word research essay (due mid-semester) 40% and a 2500-word essay (due end of semester) 50%, and seminar participation 10%. Hurdle Requirement: Students are required to attend a minimum of 75% of classes in order to pass this subject. Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at 2% per working day. In-class tasks missed without approval will not be marked. All pieces of written work must be submitted to pass this subject. |
