Subject Overview:

A study of the processes of assessment and evaluation for young children available to early childhood and other professionals. Topics may include a critical examination of informal and formal data gathering through a range of techniques; critical examination of commercially produced assessment and evaluation instruments; consideration of the purpose and use of data obtained; the preparation of reports; and issues in assessment including the effects of diverse cultural contexts and ethical issues of consent and the maintenance of confidentiality.
