Marine ecosystems cover 71% of the earth’s surface and are vital to the existence of humans in many ways. This subject covers our current understanding of the dynamics of marine ecosystems and the key techniques and concepts used to assess environmental impacts, manage exploited species and conserve biodiversity. |

Provide students with an opportunity to learn about concepts at the cutting edge of research in Marine Ecology, and their relevance to our understanding and management of marine ecosystems. |
Assessment: |
Group oral presentation (10%); written report of 2000 words due during semester (30%); mid-term written examination of 1 hour (20%); written examination of 2 hours during the final examination period (40%)
