Subject Overview:

This is a six-day residential program specifically for senior architecture students. The program will involve a design project to be located on a site in central or inner Melbourne and will include detailed brief and site analysis and preparation, working in small groups, of a design proposal for presentation at a ‘big crit’ day at the end. Emphasis will be upon the study of sustainable urban design, urban density, social and architectural innovation and the design of a new generation of high quality environments and buildings.

Objectives:

To provide students with an intensive studio-based learning experience, with a focus on sustainable design in an urban context.

Assessment:

Design presentation (15 minutes with 15 minutes feedback) and submission of design (equivalent to 5000 words), due at end of teaching period - 100%
