Subject Overview:

The honours thesis in Spanish and Latin American Studies provides students with the opportunity to develop research techniques and to benefit from the experience of researching and writing an independent thesis on a topic of their choice. The thesis is normally written in Spanish but special permission may be obtained from the Head of the Spanish Section for the thesis to be written in English.
Objectives:
  • Demonstrated mastery of research techniques and methodologies appropriate to a field of Spanish and Latin American Studies
  • Ability to devise and structure an extended and coherently argued piece of written work
  • Contribution to the Spanish and Latin American studies discipline
Assessment:

A thesis of 10 000 words + a summary of 2000 words (in Spanish if thesis is written in English; in English if the thesis is written in Spanish), due on week 12 of second semester (100%).
