Subject Overview: |
This subject is intended for social workers who have experience in working with groups, and/or are practitioners who intend establishing a group for service users in their agency. Thus, the subject presumes some understanding of the basics of social work practice with groups and is focused upon developing understanding of the theory and practice relevant to this approach to working with people. Students may be working with groups in providing therapeutic interventions, social support, as a community development or social action strategy, or as assisting self-help groups in health, mental health, individual and family settings, and/or in non-voluntary or mandated programs. |
