Subject Overview: |
This subject will examine the role of the conductor as an accompanist. Students will work with singers and an instrumental ensemble in excerpts from opera and concert music. An ensemble and singers will be available for students to conduct during classes as required. |

On completion of this subject, students should have gained:

Assessment: |
Attendance and participation in all aspects of the class (40%); a practical test, rehearsing and performing a recitative and aria, plus a duet, from the selected repertoire (60%), to be held at the end of the intensive teaching period. |
Prescribed Texts: | A reading pack with relevant musical examples will be distributed prior to the first class. |
