Subject Overview:

In this subject students will develop the practical building blocks needed to produce effective Community Cultural Development projects and programs. The students will examine and evaluate their own practice, mapping a sustainable community practice in the context of changing social and cultural agendas.

Objectives:

On completion of this subject the student will:

• articulate the conceptual underpinnings of their CCD practice;
• articulate the methods and processes of their CCD practice;
• demonstrate flexibility within changing community and aesthetic environments;
• demonstrate knowledge of major and emerging themes in CCD and community based practices.

Assessment:

Contribution and participation in seminar discussions (10%); journal 4,000 words (40%) due in the examination period; presentation and exegesis (50%) at the end of semester.

Hurdle requirements:
Students must attend 80% of all scheduled classes and attempt all elements of assessment to be eligible for a pass in this subject.

On completion of this subject the student will:

• exhibit extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of their discipline including relevant professional knowledge, skills, discipline and ethics as they relate to a practising artist working in diverse CCD contexts;
• demonstrate capacities for artistic imagination, creativity, transformation and interpretation;
• demonstrate practical skills in respect of critical analysis, problem solving, report writing, team work and oral and written communication.
