Subject Overview:	This is a directed reading seminar on public culture that is driven by the research interest of both the students and the staff. Details of the programs being offered will be available in the Australian Centre.
Objectives:	Students who successfully completethis subject will: demonstrate a specialist understanding of the focus on public culture, that is developed in the seminar. Where appropriate students will have contributed to the articulaton of key examples in historical research and utilized the appropriate theoretical concepts for understanding the new formations in contemporary culture. Students should show a capacity for an advanced level of analysis in relation to the issues being studied, and show an awareness of the latest research direction in the particular field of the seminar.
Assessment:	Written work totaling 5000 words 100% (due at the end of semester)
Prescribed Texts:	Texts appropriate to the area of study will be determined in consultation with the coordinator.
