Anthropology

This major is only available to students in the pre-2008 Bachelor of Arts.

Anthropology is the study of the many societies and cultures of the world and their complex interaction. Anthropology's global comparative scope is complemented by a local focus. Its unique perspective is made possible by intensive participation in the daily life and language of the communities studied. Contemporary social asks broad and detailed questions about what it means to be human in a glbalising world, as well as providing a critical vantage point from which to reflect on ourselves and others.

A major in anthropology usually consists of eight 12.5 point subjects, totalling 100 points. It comprises:

• two first year subjects: Anthropology Studying Human Diversity, and an Arts Foundation Subject; and
• three second/third year level subjects selected from the core subjects list; and
• three second/third year level subjects from either the core or optional lists.

Students who commenced their degree before 2007 will need to complete 112.5 points toward this major in order to complete the major.
