Subject Overview:

This subject involves a period of attachment (secondment) by the student to a theatre company, film company, dance company or other sutiable organisation or professional practitioner. The subject provides the student with an opportunity, within a professional environment, to test and develop skills learnt over Years 1 and 2 of the course while also becoming part of the professional network.

The secondment can be undertaken full time for a specific period or for an equivalent number of hours spread over a longer period. Two secondments making up the required time is also acceptable. The secondment should be in a related field to the two modules studied in Production Skills 2A. A written report is a guided reflection of the secondment.
Objectives: The subject provides the student with an opportunity to test and develop the skills learnt over the past two years within a professional environment. It also provides a valuable opportunity to become part of the professional network. A written report and presentation provides an opportunity to actively consider the secondment experience through articulating what has been learnt and observed about production practice.
Assessment:

Secondment supervisors report (50%); written report reflecting personal experience of production practice on secondment (approx 3,000 wrods) (40%); student verbal presentation, approx 10 minutes (10%).

On completion of this subject students should be able to:
