Subject Overview:

Stream A: 100 points by thesis
This stream comprises a 100% research component (100 points) and is only available to candidates who have demonstrated research capacity by previously completing a Research Methods subject (or equivalent). The thesis will be 30,000 words.


Stream B: 100 points by coursework and thesis
The course comprises both coursework and research components. The coursework component consists of subjects up to 25 points (two standard 12.5 point subjects or 25% of the course workload) with the research thesis making up either 75 points or 87.5 points (75% or 87.5% of the course workload). Students will be required to successfully complete both components of the course and accumulate a total of 100 points.
Objectives: The Master of Public Infrastructure (by research) provides an opportunity for students to undertake structured and supervised research into issues involved in public infrastructure proposals and projects. A primary objective of the program is to focus on 'real project data' that may not have previously been methodically identified, analysed, assessed and documented in order to inform future developments and practice.
Students in the research program will have an opportunity to gather and consider existing data from around the world in the conception, development and management of public infrastructure projects.
Sponsors of participants whether from public or private sector organisations may benefit from the workplace based research undertaken by their staff into leading edge developments, practice and policy related to public infrastructure.
