Time Commitment: Contact Hours: 1 two-hour rehearsal per week during the semester
Total Time Commitment: 60 hours
Prerequisites: The minimum level of performance required for this ensemble would be equivalent to AMEB grade 7 or a high grade for VCE solo performance
Corequisites: N/A
Recommended Background Knowledge: For this ensemble, skill on an early instrument or early voice experience is required.

Subject Overview:

A small chamber ensemble for singers and instrumentalists specialising in baroque performance practice. Repertoire is tailored to the composition of the ensemble.
Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • show technical development as ensemble musicians
  • participate with ability and self-confidence as a team member of a performing group
  • perform selected repertoire to concert standard
  • identify and exhibit specific knowledge of a range of ensemble repertoire
  • exhibit an informed respect for the values and principles of ensemble performance.
Assessment:

Attendance and active participation in all rehearsals and classes (50%); participation in performances as directed (50%).

Less than 80% attendance will result in a fail.
