Objectives:

A student who has successfully completed this subject should:

  • Be familiar with the purpose and structure of over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives documentation, including that used in the United States
  • Understand the relevant terms and business uses of OTC derivatives
  • Be able to identify key issues when negotiating an OTC derivatives transaction
  • Understand the use of derivatives for business and investment purposes
  • Be familiar with the US and international jurisdictional and regulatory issues surrounding OTC derivatives
  • Identify and articulate public policy concerns with OTC derivatives transactions.
