Subject Overview: |
This subject requires students to develop a self-initiated body of works to be explored over the semester. An essentially open studio situation, provides opportunities for students to address specific aesthetic and technical challenges. Students continue to experiment with a range of methodologies and tools, and where appropriate, the use of digital technologies. Issue-based and conceptual problems form part of a comprehensive studio practice aimed at developing independent work strategies. Students are encouraged to formulate a flexible non-assessable work plan to support this process. Students are also required to inform their work by developing awareness of national and international contemporary art practice and through participation in slide talks, group tutorials, field trips and specialist sessions. |
