Subject Overview: |
The purpose of this subject is to equip students with the essential skills in the analysis of accounting and financial data for business decision making. Students are exposed to the concepts and practical applications of widely used information technology based tools for the analysis of data from accounting and business systems. Major tools examined include spreadsheets and other advanced decision technologies for the quantitative analysis of accounting and business data. A significant portion of the subject will entail hands-on experience with the accounting and business analytic tools. Contexts of application may include budgeting, costing, profitability analysis, cash flow management, among others. |

Assessment: |
A 3-hour final examination (60%) and assignments totalling not more than equivalent to 4000 words (40%). Satisfactory completion of this subject requires a 50% pass in the final examination. |
