Course Overview:

The Bachelor of Environments (Honours) program offers students the opportunity to pursue further studies along a pathway of Landscape Management; or Environmental Geographies, Politics and Cultures.

The Landscape Management Honours specialisation is a multi-disciplinary program that provides advanced training in landscape management. It will equip students with the conceptual and analytical skills necessary to understand and manage a range of landscape management and resource issues.

The Environmental Geographies, Politics and Cultures Honours specialisation addresses the relationship between human activities and the natural and built environment, and humanity’s reliance on the earth’s natural resources.

Landscape Management

The Landscape Management specialisation aims to equip students with the conceptual and analytical skills necessary to understand and manage a range of landscape management and resource issues.

The Environmental Geographies, Politics and Cultures Honours specialisation addresses the relationship between human activities and the natural and built environment, and humanity’s reliance on the earth’s natural resources.

Majors/Minors/Specialisations:
Entry Requirements: Entry requirements for the Landscape Management specialisation: completion of a Bachelor of Environments including a major in Landscape Management, with an average of at least H2B (70%) in second and third-year subjects within the major, or equivalent.

Entry requirements for the Environmental Geographies, Politics and Cultures specialisation: completion of a Bachelor of Environments including a major in Environmental Geographies, Politics and Culturesan average of at least H2B (70%) in second and third-year subjects within the major, or equivalent.

Further Study: Candidates who have successfully completed the honours at an appropriate standard are eligible to proceed to a PhD.
Graduate Attributes:

The Honours in Landscape Management will be academically excellent (attribute 1 of the revised statement of Graduate Attributes as approved by Academic Board). The program will build on new synergies arising from the merging of the Geography department and the Department of Resource Management in the Melbourne School of Land and Environment. The concentration of expertise in geography, environmental and resource and landscape management provided by this merger is unique. This expertise, coupled with the expertise within the MSLE and the other relevant schools in the University provides a unique opportunity for a high quality honours program.

It will be a multi-disciplinary program that provides advanced training in landscape management. It will equip students with the conceptual and analytical skills necessary to understand and manage a range of landscape management and resource issues. Such characteristics meet knowledgeable across disciplines (attribute 2 of the revised statement of Graduate Attributes as approved by Academic Board) and Articles I and II - Attuned to cultural diversity and Active global citizens.
