Dates & Locations: This is a time-based subject, taught on campus at Parkville.
Time Commitment: Contact Hours: Regular meetings with supervisor throughout period of enrollment.
Total Time Commitment:

40 hours a week

Enrolment in this thesis subject must be over two consecutive semester.
Prerequisites: Enrolment in Master of Arts Applioed Philosophy 102PA.
Corequisites: None.
Recommended Background Knowledge: Students enrolling in this subject must have completed a four year Bachelor of Arts degree with Thesis component or equivalent.
Non Allowed Subjects: None.

Subject Overview:

A major thesis based on original research, on a topic to be approved by the course coordinator.
Objectives:

students who successfully complete this subject will:

  • have undertaken advanced study in a specialised branch of philosophy as determined by the student.
  • have acquired research skills and an understanding of the methods required for advanced research in philosophy.
  • have completed a major thesis, based on original research and revealing an awareness of current theoretical directions in their chosen field.
Assessment: A thesis of 30,000 words. Successful theses will be awarded either H1, H2A or H2B
Prescribed Texts:

Appropriate texts will be determined in consultation with the thesis coordinator.
