Time Commitment: Contact Hours: 18 hours. At the discretion of the Coordinator of Honours, a number of Principal Study lessons per semester may be conducted as Principal Study Forums

Subject Overview:

  • Development of advanced solo performing skills and a study of effective programs of practice.

  • Repertoire research and selection and the preparation of major works or equivalent for public performance.

  • Special arrangements will be made for composers.
Objectives:

Upon completing this subject students should have gained:

  • a broad knowledge of the repertoire for the particular instrument or voice;
  • the musical and practical skills necessary for public performance;
  • the creative, critical and analytical skills which are appropriate to performance.
Assessment:

Recital of 45 minutes duration (90%); program notes and Principal Study teacher's mark (10%).
