Time Commitment:

Contact Hours: 1 fortnightly one-hour seminar plus regular consultation with the appointed supervisor, over 2 semesters

Subject Overview:	Students will conceive, plan and execute a substantial research project, and present a paper at a conference organised by the School of Music mid-way through the 2 semesters of enrolment.
Objectives:	On completion of this subject students should: demonstrate a command of both standard literature and writings at the current scholarly forefront of the chosen field develop the capacity for independent and original research and the ability to, plan and execute a substantial research project.
Assessment:	Attendance at twelve seminars during the 2 semesters of enrolment (5%); a 12000 word dissertation due no later than 5.00 pm on the last day of the second semester of enrolment (95%); presentation of two work-in-progress reports.
Prescribed Texts:	A Dissertation Guidelines Handbook will be available prior to the commencement of semester.
