Subject Overview:

The Clarinet Ensemble plays works scored for 6 to 30 players, from a range of genres including baroque to the 20th century, as well as student compositions and arrangements. The School of Music owns 2 contra basses in Bb, 1 contra bass in Eb, 3 basses, 2 altos, and a sopranino, available for student use in this ensemble.

Objectives: On completion of this subject students should be able to:
  • show technical development as ensemble musicians
  • participate with ability and self-confidence as a team member of a performing group
  • perform selected repertoire to concert standard
  • identify and exhibit specific knowledge of a range of ensemble repertoire
  • exhibit an informed respect for the values and principles of ensemble performance.
Assessment: Assessment will be on a pass/fail basis and will be based on preparation of parts, individual and/or sectional practice and active participation in all rehearsals, classes and performances as directed (100%).

Less than 80% attendance will result in a fail.
