Time Commitment: Contact Hours: Fortnightly meetings with the supervisor over two consecutive semesters of enrolment

Subject Overview:

This subject entails an original supervised research project on a topic approved by the honours coordinator.
Objectives:
  • complete supervised research on an advanced topic in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics.
  • prepare a "poster" of the results of their research.
  • complete a thesis of 12,000 words on their research.
  • be able to write a sustained piece of original argumentation.
  • be able to survey an area of knowledge, taking into account all relevant literature on the topic.
Assessment: A thesis of 12000 words 100% (due at the end of the second semester of enrolment). Students are also required to prepare and present a poster of their research at a poster session (held at the end of the 6th week of the second semester of enrolment)

Generic Skills:

Notes: Enrolment in this subject is over two consecutive semester: 12.5 points in the first semester of enrolment and 25 points in the second semester of enrolment. Variation to this requires Honours Coordinator approval.
