This subject provides students with an opportunity to read and listen to various types of authentic Japanese materials with some modification and learn to communicate on a wide range of topics. Students will learn100 kanji (Chinese characters) and will be introduced to various aspects of Japanese culture. Computer laboratory instruction will support the curriculum. |

Assessment: |
Three in-class tests, 25% (due throughout the semester), two written assignments 800 words 20% (due early semester and end of semester), 2-hour final examination 50%(examination period) and continuous class participation 5%. Class attendance is required for this subject; if you do not attend a minimum of 80% of classes without an approved exemption you will not be eligible for a pass in this subject. Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at 10% per day. In-class tasks missed without approval will not be marked. All pieces of written work must be submitted to pass this subject. |

It is only available at level two for students completing the post-VCE stream of Japanese, and level three for beginners stream Japanese student.
