Subject Overview: |
This subject covers management of projects and leading project teams and associated change management roles, tasks and processes. Topics include the project life cycle, project tasks and deliverables, defining a project charter from a business case, project scheduling, critical path analysis, resource levelling, risk management, quality assurance, testing and project delivery including post implementation reviews. The limits of projects as change agents will also be covered.

Objectives: | Upon completion of this subject, students should be able to: 1. develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, estimate project resources, allocate/coordinate resources, and describe interface with management. 2. apply tools and techniques of project planning and management, including the use of project management software. 3. describe the human and organizational implications of change and explain the organizational change process and the limitations of projects and change agents 4. describe ways of overcoming resistance and handling politics. |
Assessment: |
A Project Management Assignment of 3500 words due in Week 9 (35%); a Change Management Assignment of 2500 words due in Week 12 (25%); and a 2-hour written examination (40%) during the University's Examination Period. |
