Subject Overview:	Please note: this subject is currently closed and MCCP is not accepting enrolments. The last intake into this subject was Sem 2 2010 This subject is designed to provide students with a grounding in the foundations of IT security risk management. Topics covered in this unit: • Risk identification methodologies and risk mitigation strategies; • Security governance and oversight of information security risks. • Legislation and regulations related to information security. • Fraud and internet usage management as part of business practice; • The separation of duties in the business on-line environment including accepted fraud risk management protocols and procedures for the minimisation of fraud; • Applications of security and risk policy in support of business practice.
Objectives:	Students who successfully complete this subject will have demonstrated an understanding of: • The theoretical framework and methodologies applied in information security risk assessment particularly in the business environment; • Practical application of risk mitigation strategies in IT environments.
Assessment:	Two written assignments and a practical exam totalling 6000 words.
