Contact Hours: 12 hours over first 2 days of semester, 12 hours with academic supervisor throughout the semester, organised informally with supervisor.

Subject Overview:	The Geomatics Research Project will start with a joint intensive 2 day introduction into conducting research and scientific report writing, followed by working on an individual research project under academic supervision. The project will culminate in a minor thesis and a poster presentation.
Objectives:	Upon successful completion students will have the ability to: Define a research project in their subject matter; Describe steps involved in order to run a research project in their subject matter; Use and develop associated technologies to approach a research question; Interpret experiment results.
Assessment:	The research project will culminate in a minor thesis, reporting about the addressed research problem, approach, results and conclusions. At the beginning of the preejct the supervisor will discuss with the student expectations on a page or word limit on an individual basis, due to the variety of the characters of research projects in Geomatics, such as fieldwork, programming or literature review. Additionally the project outcomes will be presented at a joint poster session. The total workload is 240 hours and the total mark consists of a 60% component for the report and a 40% component for the poster, the latter assessed in peer review.
