Time Commitment: | Contact Hours: 36 hours for internal mode students. External mode students can expect a total workload of approximately 240 hours. Total Time Commitment: For on-campus study attendance at all classes (tutorial/seminars/practical classes/lectures/labs) is obligatory. Education Student CentreSubject Overview: | Methods for creating, designing and developing measurement tools are explored. These tools include those used for assessment of capabilities, achievement, attitudes and preferences. The principles of scale construction and validation provide the framework for topics including domain specification and definition, assessment instrument design, validity and reliability. Use of quantitative methods, including item response theory and classical analysis to inform the development process, is covered. |

Assessment: | A report of 8,000 words on the design, development, administration and calibration of an assessment instrument. The report should include analyses using an item reponse modeling software, as well as interpretations of the results. (100 per cent) |
