Course Overview: | The Bachelor of Music Theatre is designed to develop creative music theatre performers who are sufficiently flexible to contribute to the changing needs of the artistic community. They will be creative leaders who can generate, develop and perform new work. This course comprises three years of full time study and is not available on a part time basis. |

Objectives: | Students will develop practical skills across the three disciplines involved in Music Theatre, and will gain an understanding of the requirements of period, style and dramatic context. Whilst singing, acting and dance are each treated and taught as separate disciplines, students will learn to always consider their relationship to each other in Music Theatre and their combined contribution to storytelling. |

Entry Requirements: | Applicants are required to have successfully completed VCE or year 12 equivalent with a study score of at least 25 in Units 3 and 4 English/English Language/Literature or a study score of at least 30 in Units 3 and 4 ESL. Entry into the Bachelor of Music Theatre is by audition and interview. Applicants will be required to prepare two monologues, two contrasting music theatre songs and attend a group dance audition. Applicants must also complete the Application for Audition form, and refer to the information on Selection Procedures available on the VCA website. |
Core Participation Requirements: | For the purposes of considering requests for Reasonable Adjustments under the Disability Standards for Education (Cwth 2005), and Students Experiencing Academic Disadvantage Policy, this subject requires all students to actively and safely participate in all aspects of Music Theatre including Singing, Dancing and Acting.
