Time Commitment: Contact Hours: Regular meetings with the supervisor over two consecutive semesters of enrolment

Prerequisites: Admission to the postgraduate diploma or fourth-year honours in Arabic studies.

Subject Overview:

Students will be required to write a thesis of 12 000 words on a topic approved by the supervisor. They will also be required to present a seminar paper on the results of their research.

Objectives:
  • acquire the skills to search for and critically evaluate materials and present the results in a scholarly format.
  • be able to evaluate different methodological approaches to social and intellectual problems and
  • be able to discuss social and cultural phenomena analytically.
Assessment: A thesis of 12 000 words on Arabic language, linguistics, literature, or another appropriate topic in Arabic studies 100% (due at the end of the second semester of enrolment).
