Swedish

The DL provides students with the opportunity to gain a Diploma in Swedish language while completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne. The Swedish Diploma is offered in a beginners and intermediate stream and consists of a three-year sequence of first, second and third year language study and may add up to one year to the duration of the student’s degree course. NOTE: Swedish is being taught out, students commencing studies in 2011 are unable to commence major in this language.

On completion of the Diploma, students should:

• have acquired a mastery of both oral/aural and writing/reading skills comparable to that of a student majoring in a language discipline;
• have gained a basic understanding of selected aspects of the culture (or cultures) and of the society (or societies) associated with the language.

Students completing the Diploma of Languages (Swedish) must complete the following point at each year level:
