Objectives:

Students who complete the postgraduate diploma should:

  • discuss a wide range of current issues in Japanese;
  • appreciate language styles and major points of selected readings in Japanese;
  • demonstrate an understanding of Japan and contemporary Japanese society;
  • write a thesis of 12,000 words, comparable with that appropriate to an Honours degree.
Structure & Available Subjects: The Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in this area of specialisation requires:
  • 12000 word thesis (37.5 points)
  • Three compulsory subjects (37.5 points)
  • Two elective subjects (25 points)


Total 100 points - subjects are 12.5 points each, unless indicated otherwise.
