Subject Overview:

Students start putting into practice technical and creative knowledge that has been learnt formally in their chosen production skills classes. Students are usually assigned to at least one placement on a production mounted either within and/or beyond the College. These placements give the student the opportunity to develop organisational, leadership and creative skills within the context of the production process. This subject encourages students to work independently and to engage with their peers in a collaborative context.
Objectives:
  • extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of the discipline including relevant professional knowledge, skills, discipline and ethics as related to practicing capacities for the visual/performing artist;
  • demonstrate artistic imagination, creativity, transformation and interpretation;
  • demonstrate practical skills in respect of critical analysis, problem solving, report writing, team work and oral and written communication;
  • work at various levels both as an individual and as a team, in a wide variety of visual/performing artistic environments;
  • contribute to a range of visual/performing arts environments as artistic collaborators and leaders.
Assessment:

Each discipline of study has its own assessment requirements (60%); participation (20%); peer and self assessment reports (10%); directors report (10%).
