Subject Overview:

Students will engage in a program of practical study appropriate to the third year and working towards the end-of-year examination. Vocal and instrumental students will further develop their technique and repertoire and awareness of the stylistic and interpretative characteristics of the repertory studied with an individually designed program of repertoire.

Objectives:

On completion of the subject, students should be able to:

  • design a recital program;

  • demonstrate growing artistic maturity in the preparation of recital repertoire;

  • perform the component works of a program with developing musical understanding; and

  • display a level of instrumental or vocal craft appropriate to the level of the repertoire presented.

Assessment:

A 15-minute technical examination at the end of the semester of approved technical repertoire (50%); teacher's report and mark indicating progress made towards the end-of-year examination (40%); attendance at instrumental or vocal class and attendance at concert class (10%). Students must pass all components of assessment to pass subject.
