Time Commitment: | Contact Hours: A 1-hour lecture and three hours of language classes per week Total Time Commitment: 4 contact hours/week , 4.5 additional hours/week. Total of 8.5 hours per week. | ||||||||||||
Prerequisites: | Japanese 2A or equivalent. New students with prior language experience may not enrol unless they have taken a placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester. | ||||||||||||

Subject Overview: |
This subject follows on from Japanese 2A, further consolidating students" Japanese knowledge and communication. Students will also learn to use an appropriate politeness level and style. Various reading and listening materials are introduced to enhance students&rsquo.. communication skills on a range of topics. Students will learn a further 85 kanji (Chinese characters) and will be introduced to various aspects of Japanese culture. Computer laboratory instruction will support the curriculum. |

Assessment: | Five in-class quizzes of 200 words 20% (throughout the semester), a speaking test 15% (due mid semester), an oral presentation 10% (towards the end of the semester), a written assessment of 800 characters 10% (due towards the end of the semester), a final examination (due during the examination period) 45%. Students are required to attend minimum of 70% of seminars and lectures. |
