Time Commitment: | Contact Hours: A 1-hour lecture and three hours of language classes per week Total Time Commitment: 4 contact hours/week , 4.5 additional hours/week. Total of 8.5 hours per week. | ||||||||||||
Prerequisites: | Japanese 1B or equivalent. New students with prior language experience may not enrol unless they have taken a placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester. | ||||||||||||

Subject Overview: |
This subject consolidates students" Japanese knowledge and enables communication on various everyday topics in Japanese. Various reading and listening materials are introduced to enhance students" communication skills on a range of topics. Students will learn a further 75 kanji (Chinese characters). Students are also introduced to various aspects of Japanese culture. Computer laboratory instruction will support the curriculum. |

Assessment: | Five in-class quizzes of 200 words 20% (throughout the semester), a speaking test 15% (due at the end of the semester), a composition task 10% (due mid semester), a 30-minute listening test 10 % (due at the end of semester), a final examination (due during the examination period) 45%. Students are required to attend minimum of 70% of contact hours. |
