Literature & the Making of Indonesia

This subject has the following teaching availabilities in 2010:

This subject is an overview of trends in modern Indonesian literature in English translation from the Nationalist period to the present. A variety of literary works are read and discussed, placing them within their historical and cultural context. On completion of the subject, students should be familiar with the major schools of literature in modern Indonesia and their relationship to Indonesian historical trends. and have read and analysed a number of important modern Indonesian literary works of various genres.

• will increase their global Indonesia language proficency in oral and written analytical discussion and in the diverse areas of human concern that serve as the topics of Indonesain literary works.
