Subject Overview: |
This subject will develop students" skills such as using idiomatic and conversational forms freely in speech. proficiency in written structures of moderate complexity and the capacity to use such structures clearly and accurately. interpreting messages of a medium level of complexity occurring in a variety of audio-visual media and individual and group spoken forms. It will also cover the role and function of stylistic complexity in Arabic, the development of Arabic literature in the modern period including some examples of writing in the period and translation of texts of moderate difficulty in non-technical language from Arabic to English and vice versa using dictionaries. |

Assessment: | Continuous homework assessment, best 8 pieces 15% (throughout the semester), continuous assessment (speaking) 20% (throughout the semester), an aural/oral examination of 15 mins 15% (during the exam period) and a 3-hour written examination 50% (during the exam period). |
